According to the odometer of my sister's 2003 Honda Civic, 2945 miles. That's a ridiculously long way. It took us four full days (12+ hours each) to drive it. That's such a long ways that it's essentially impossible to wrap your brain around it unless you've done it yourself. Since you are unlikely to do that any time soon, let's try looking at it via music. You know how iTunes says that you have X days of music or whatever? Here is the complete list of every album that we listened to in the car on the way here, by day.
[CD] indicates it came from my sister's collection. Everything was else was on my iPod. Of course, a lot of what is on my iPod is also in my sister's collection, but whatever.
[Inc] means that we stopped for the night before finishing the album.

So to properly replicate our trip, just pop all of these albums on one after the other. We had music going almost the entire time, aside from some NPR the first hour of the first day and another hour or so in Edmonton. Otherwise, it was all rock, all the time. It occurs to me that I've dated multiple women who didn't own this many CDs in total. In fact, it's probably not a coincidence that
xhollydayx owns more and better music than any other woman I ever dated.
By the way, my sister's brief trip summaries can be found
