New Jersey has as many good musical references as any other state. You've got
the Bon Jovi album,
The Boss, a live album with a
great version of one of my favorite songs and a host of others. Alas, the closest I've gotten to a concert in New Jersey is driving past the Meadowlands with my old co-host Dr. Bovi.
That was just one of the numerous times I've been to the Garden State. Like Pennsylvania, identifying my first trip there is nigh-impossible. Most recently I flew into Newark for a Bar Mitzvah in 2007. I've gotten wasted in Hoboken with Jimi, crashed overnight at my old Dr. Bovi's apartment, driven (or been driven) the length of the state a few times, and made numerous other appearances. We stayed at my dad's cousins a few times when I was a kid. You get the idea. I've got New Jersey covered.
Speaking of Dr. Bovi, he once speculated that if Bon Jovi opened for Bruce Springsteen at the Meadowlands they could sell out a month's worth of shows. I'm not going to argue it.
