It's been
more than a year since I summarized our previous Supper Clubs. Let's bring everyone up to date. Not everybody has posted recipes and attendance numbers aren't online so even though I made it to every one of these I'm not 100% sure what people served for some of them or who was there. So if you're reading this and wondering why I didn't go into detail about your meal, you've only yourself to blame.
2011
March - Alex & Cynthia host "The Sort of Food We'd Like to Have", aka they had no theme but did have good food.
June -
stampinmak and
indy_was_here did a maple syrup themed meal. I liked the chicken with a blueberry/red wine glaze, and there was also cheesecake.
July -
gieves and
darlox made Japanese food sans power. They lost electricity in the middle of the preparation process, which made some dishes way more complicated and others impossible. If memory serves we actually had some rare and possibly illicit North Korean whiskey that
darlox acquired by knowing the right people. My favorite thing was actually served when a few of us went over the next day for a follow up dinner. Their
takoyaki were fantastic.
October -
ayb2 and Brent made Korean food. They had all these nifty little appetizers, including really little tiny fish that were heavily salted and delicious. They also had seaweed, which was quite yummy, and a host of other little appetizers.
November - Carol & John hosted a murder mystery party with a Caribbean food theme. The sliders were excellent, the murder mystery party was mostly cheesy.
2012
January -
butterandjelly and Anil did a Guinness themed meal. It included French onion soup, pulled pork with Guinness BBQ sauce, colcannon and ice cream beer floats. 10 attendees, I think.
February - I made a leg of lamb.
Perhaps you've read about it. 15 attendees.
March -
sparklie_lady and The Don did Cajun/Creole food. Highlights included the cheesecake with crab in it covered with a mushroom demi-glaze. They also made very nice red beans and rice, gumbo and bananas foster. The latter item involved lighting things on fire, which is always fun. 9 attendees.
