Oh, my God, I can't believe it
I've never been this far away from home
Oh My GodOriginally by
Kaiser Chiefs, done best by
Mark Ronson with
Lily Allen My ex has pretty good taste in music. In particular, if there was a good new song by any even vaguely mainstream band she almost certainly heard about it before I did. To name just one example, she turned me on to
Peter, Bjorn and John long before I heard about them from anywhere else.
We didn't have a song that we would have described as 'our song', but we had a bunch of songs that we both liked. Chief among them was Oh My God, which was one of the many tracks that Mark Ronson covered on his album
Version. I first heard of this when she showed me the video, featuring Lily Allen as a
Jessica Rabbit inspired animated nightclub singer. The Kaiser Chiefs get a nice nod when they make an appearance in the audience midway through (EDIT: They are the five guys who walk in and sit down at the table).

We bought the CD shortly layer and it was soon a frequent ocurrence for the two of us to listen to this song as we danced around the kitchen while we were making dinner, with Tulip (who was still a puppy back then, she turns five this week) running around us barking. Good times.
The good times eventually ended, or maybe they were an illusion. Either way, this CD left with her. I should really pick it up again. The song is still good, and so is the memory, even if it has a sad tint to it now that it lacked before.
Knock me down, I'll get right back up again
I come back stronger than a powered-up Pac-Man
Or at least I hope so.
