Where Should I Eat in Cleveland? Redux - Suggestions Appreciated

Aug 17, 2014 11:25

Last summer Dr. I and I put together a list of places in Cleveland we wanted to try. I've made surprising progress on this list. In fact, I knocked off virtually everything in the high priority category. Here's an update.

Crossed Off Since Last Time
Crop - Dr. I and I went there this past spring. The architecture is almost cooler than the food. My short ribs were enjoyable, but nothing special. The service was good. I'd go there again if a friend wanted to, but I'm in no hurry to return.
Katz Club Diner - Very average. I'd try to argue a friend out of going there again.
El Carnicero / Momocho - I've been El Carnicero three times now with an assortment of group sizes. It's really good, really fattening and affordable. M and I went to Momocho before the Neko Case concert in May; it's basically a more expensive version of El Carnicero with the same menu at a higher price point and a worse parking situation. I don't know why I'd ever go back to Momocho so long as El Carnicero exists.
Town Hall - It's a meat market with above average food and a lot of booze. Dr. I and I were there last October. I have no burning desire to return.
Jammy Buggar's - M and I went there this past summer on a Friday night. I had a burger that was as good or better than any burger I've had in Cleveland, so I will certainly return for that reason alone.
El Barrio (Lakewood) - Reviewed here.
Red Steakhouse (down) - Dr. I & I went a few weeks ago. My steak was perfectly prepared and utterly delicious. The supporting food was very good. I'm not going to spend $50 on a steak very often, but if I'm in the mood for that this is certainly the place to do it in Cleveland. Bonus: Pronk was in the house.
El Salvadoran Place - M got me takeout from an El Salvadoran restaurant on the west side. I don't recall the name and am too lazy to look it up right now, but it was delicious. I will probably get it for my gaming group one of these times.
