My list is comparatively
static, which is the nice thing about being a financially secure adult: I can buy things I want. Admittedly, I usually just spend my money on plane, concert, film and baseball tickets, but I *could* buy stuff if I wanted to. Really, this list is just "stuff I haven't gotten around to acquiring yet."
Reading Materials
- I'm very torn about my subscription to
The Economist. I really enjoy reading it and learn a great deal, but it's a huge time commitment and has greatly slowed down my poetry consumption. It's unlikely that I will learn that I don't have to actually read everything in it, so maybe I'm better off with poetry this year. I'm conflicted.
- I don't own most of Bujold's fantasy novels. EDIT: Dad got me Spirit Ring AND all the Chalion books
- I've got a number of gaps in my Honorverse collection.
Kitchen Stuff
- My friend and colleague
rshruti keeps raving about her
fancy 7-1 pressure cooker. If nothing else, it would give me a second slow cooker, and I could retire my rice cooker to make space for it. EDIT: M got me one!
- A salt & pepper grinder set.
- A baking stone. EDIT: my sister got me one!
Art
- A print of
Orpheus by Odilon Redon suitable for framing, or maybe even framed already!
- A print of this
Egon Schiele work.
- A
Grace Tong print.
Clothes
- An Oakland Athletics Jersey. Any color. Maybe even the crazy yellow alternates. Or the much cheaper 1989 Rickey Henderson World Series jersey. Actually, buying these from MLB is asking to be fleeced.
- A US Olympic Hockey Team Jersey, 1980 Miracle on Ice edition (white). #9 Neal Broten? Or generic.
Music - Listed mostly so I can go shopping for them later :-)
- The Aquabats album "The Fury of the Aquabats"
- The David Byrne / St. Vincent album "Love This Giant"
- The David Byrne album "Here Lies Love"
- Mark Ronson album "Uptown Special"
- Josh Ritter album "The Beast In Its Tracks"
