The Encyclopedia Project: 'U' and 'V'

Oct 29, 2019 07:00

To my complete lack of surprise, the two total weeks of music required for the letters 'U' and 'V' weren't even half the weeks needed for 'T'.

Equally unsurprisingly, none of the very few bands played fell into either the "terrible", "great" or "not found" categories. There've been so few "not found" bands thus far that I'm starting to wonder if I just made a mistake when I looked for them - and I know for certain that we've acquired at least two of them since then.

10/06 - U.K., James Blood Ulmer, Underworld
10/13 - ZION
10/20 - U.T.F.O., Van der Graaf Generator, Vanilla Fudge

The letter 'W' is the last "big" letter in the encyclopedia, coming in at almost 50 pages, so I expect it to take a couple of weeks. It's possible that I'll finish the alphabet by the end of 2019. I'd be stunned if I didn't wrap it up by the four year anniversary on Valentine's Day 2020, and the "not in this edition" bands by the end of the spring semester. All of this means I should start thinking about what randomizer I will use for my show going forward (perhaps I'll find another such book), as well as how I want to mark the completion of the project.
