Prince Edward Island calls itself the "Cradle of Confederation" because it hosted the original meeting discussion Confederation, but somehow kept from joining the Confederation until
six years after the first four provinces. As a result, PEI is the seventh province.
PEI is also the only province that has its very own
tag in my journal, a result of our 2019 trip there. We took the ferry from
Nova Scotia to PEI on
Wednesday, September 18, 2019. We crossed the bridge into
New Brunswick on
Monday, September 23.
In between, we had a blast. We spent five nights on the island. We walked on 6 beaches, visited 7 lighthouses and ate a lot of seafood. We visited multiple Anne of Green Gables tourist locations; an exact number is hard to pinpoint but somewhere between 4-5 depending on what you count. We would absolutely go back and do it all again. M jokes that we should move there. I'm not sure that I want to deal with even a milder Canadian winter, but it was a lot of fun. If I could only go back to one Canadian province, this would be it.
