My 2023 in LJ

Jan 14, 2024 17:32

LiveJournal helpfully put together a stat block for 2023. Here's mine.

An image saying that I had 109 entries on the year, plus 1 comment and 1 like received.

Remarkably, that means I had 55 posts in the first half of the year and 54 in the second half.  I wasn't even trying to do that. I have no idea where the "Comment Received" came from, as I can't find it.

Compared to recent years, 109 posts seems very small. Compared to 20 years of posts, it's on part with my usual target of 2 posts/week, and frankly is probably healthier than the 200+ posts I had the last two years. I'm very comfortable with this level of output, and will target something similar for 2024.

Notable posts this year include:
- My first permanent post, which as my reading slush pile has been updated a gazillion times already.
- The one about getting laid off in April.
- In 2022, I recompleted my baseball stadium tour by visiting the new park in Texas, which I didn't write about until 2023.
- We spent January 2023 in Hilton Head, and I wrote a travel diary about it.
- The one about paying off my mortgage, which got more FB comments than anything I've posted in years.
- My first baseball memory as a spectator, and my brightest ones as a player.
- That time we all got COVID after all these years of pandemic/endemic.
- My adventures making a family recipe.
- And a whole bunch of posts about my daughter being adorable, far too many to post separate links here.

In 2024, I have very tentative plans to:
- Finish My Life in Books, which kind of got derailed.
- December will mark the 20th anniversary of my trip to Australia. I may attempt a retro-travel diary.
- We've got a big family trip coming up in 2024, which will certainly get the travel diary treatment.
- I've long threatened to review all my journal posts from the early days before tagging was a thing to [a] tag them [b] highlight some entertaining ones. Now that I've hit 20 years and done every bit of prep I could possibly think of, I'm thinking this may be my Sunday series for 2024 and potentially beyond.
- Very tentatively, I have ideas for a baseball library series. We'll see.

Thank you for reading.
