This year is the 40th annual Cleveland International Film Festival. The first movie I ever saw at the CIFF was Only the Strong Survive, a documentary about Stax Studios that I saw in 2003 at the 27th CIFF. Last Thursday, I went to the very last showing at the Cleveland Cinematheque's old Aitken Auditorium. This move was because the Cinematheque's host organization, the Cleveland Institute of Art, is consolidating its split campus into one building (more on that in as second). Thankfully, this year the Cleveland International Film Festival doesn't overlap with telethon, the home opener or any of the massive assortment of things that caused problems last year.
