You know, the fact that the couch is so comfortable might be the reason it won't work. Like you're too relaxed or something? I can't write when laying down at all for that reason, it doesn't matter where I am...

Ha! I did exactly the same thing - bought a laptop to use for writing anywhere, and found that the best place for me to write was sitting at my desk! *headdesk*
