I quit more than three years ago but I really want one right now.

Counsellor said she needed some background information.

"C, are you on maternity leave....?"

"No, I'm home full time. Lauren is 2.5"

"With my parents for a little vacation with Grammie and Grampy"

"Why?"

Oh honey, don't be rattled. Erma is a Grade-A bitch from the planet Kyron.

I am APPALLED.

Some people get into shrinking because they care for other people and are naturally insightful. Other people get into shrinking because they themselves are crazy and they're hoping to get a handle on their own issues by specializing in it. Erma is clearly a #2.

I don't know what her qualifications are. She's not a psychiatrist. I'm not sure if she's a psychologist or a social worker or simply an unspecified "counsellor". She did says she only does phone counselling.

She was also kept emphasizing how she raised three children so she "knows". She "knows" nothing about me, my child or my life. Enjoy sitting in your room in Calgary spouting inane advice, lady. Oh and New Brunswick and Alberta? Totally different environments. And I would also expect you wouldn't be so surprised uninformed about time zones.

Hehehehe..."clearly a #2". Yes, she's a number two all right.

She can kiss my butt. EVERYONE needs a break. Being a mom is hard under the best of circumstances. Just because you stay home doesn't mean you don't work and don't need some time off. My boss takes about 3 vacations a year. Does that mean he isn't qualified to be our director? No! It means that PEOPLE WITH A HARD JOB NEED TIME OFF. Big powerful execs like him need time off. So do big powerful moms.

Tell Erma she can suck it.

Arrghhh. Sounds like a case of "bad counselor." I'm told there's good ones out there. Maybe a change is in order.

All mommies need breaks occasionally and welcome help from family, or at least it seems that way to me. My mom does it for her sister when she can. Not b/c my aunt can't "handle" caring for her kids, but b/c my mom remembers how hard it was to have young 'uns.

Also, you are COMPLETELY RIGHT to be picky about who you leave your kids with. Seriously.

I am steamed for you.
