Other than being far too soon before the lovely B&V Winter Solstice special, no reasons spring to mind. Since you're not to use public transport for a month, it'll help to keep you safely out of homicidal Xmas and post-Xmas shopping crowds. The rest of us may end up with severe injuries due to this homicidal rush.
Until I have money enough to feed myself and get public transport over short distances, I won't be doing *any* xmas shopping. No rush yet, but it'll be nasty if I have to leave it till late. I may make some jewellery for people, but it'll have to be on thread rather than plastic wire. Bah. I have no materials, else I'd experiment and see if I could make giftable pictures.
Are you going to be able to quit smoking in sufficiently short time to make the 17th viable? If so, then I guess I'd go for "twere best done quickly" myself...
Your text here usually does the trick, I find. In general, if you want to find out how any effect was achieved, use the "View Source" option in your browser (usually Ctrl-U) and search through the HTML code for the relevant bit.

The only bounding-about outdoors time you'd miss would be horrible and cold and dark best-suited-to-staying-indoors-with-tea time anyway.

One question though - would you be able to travel in time for NYE parties and such, or are you not interested in such frivolities?

I shall quit, I think, today or tomorrow, when the urge strikes.
Hopefully, this will again be soon enough after quitting codiene (again) for smoking to be not too bad. Yes.
