Well I did it! I flew a plane by myself today. It was awesome! I went to my flight lesson like any other day. Me and my instructor went to an airport around here and did some landings. I passed my Stage 1 Check Ride today. I went up with the chief flight instructor and showed him some things I have learned with my regular instructor. It was stressful because this is an old grumpy guy who is very particular in how he wants things done. Every instructor teaches differently, so it was hard to judge how he wanted me to fly. After 16 hours of tests, mostly on my eyes, I am now medically qualified to go to Pilot Training. I am so relieved because I was nervous about all of the eye tests because they are pretty strict if you got eye surgery. I had to stay an extra day just so they could poke and prod me more. Well I am off to San Antonio, TX tomorrow for my medical flight screening. This is the final medical test to make sure I am ok to be a pilot. I am sort of nervous for it. Just got back from the little Super bowl party I was at with the other LT's I am flying with. It was a good time, but I do miss all of my friends back East. These guys don't really party like we did.
