Depressing Books

Mar 04, 2011 10:26

Please list some depressing books (so I can stay the heck away from them). I'll start:

Jude the Obscure, Thomas Hardy
Something Happened, Joseph Heller
The Outsider, Richard Wright (not to be confused with The Stranger, Albert Camus)

The Well of Loneliness
Any nonfiction about the Bush administration
Any financial planning book (but wait, I don't think you have student loan horrors like I do, that might be okay for you)

Anything non-fiction involving money or food depresses me. Thankfully, I don't have studen loans, but my lack of having really accomplished anything significant in light of that fact makes me angry at myself...but that's another story...

Becoming a Man - Half a Life Story, by Paul Monette
Prozac Nation, by Elizabeth Wurtzel (didn't make it through the whole thing)

Finish Prozac Nation; it has a happy ending (or see the movie)
