I got my first acceptance letter to grad school today!
Mankato State University has accepted me to their women studies masters program.
Woot!
This is my back up back up program, but let's hope it's the start of things to come.

Yesterday, I was explaining to someone why I really don't like when people use the names of sex-specific anatomy in a derogatory manner. (Male or female anatomy, it doesn't matter. It's not cool.) If you're using it to describe anatomy, fine. Otherwise, I'm not okay with it.
Well. The girl I was talking with (she's 22) said something along the lines of, "At this point, we're beyond feminism, so we don't need to get so upset when people use those words." Seriously. "Beyond feminism." As though the simple notion of equality between the sexes is completely irrelevent now.
I stared at her and said, "Are you sh**ing me?!" She looked terrified, but reasserted that feminism is no longer needed in the U.S.
Awesome, right?
The funny thing is, if she actually understood the feminism is more than militant, bra-burning, man-hating women, she'd probably see that she's a feminist.
