Ok, it's pretty much official. We won the shelter dog lottery. She walks on a leash, takes treats nicely, is content to lay at our feet, listens to no (not just at the time, but after we've said it), is housebroken (no accidents or even near misses in 18 hours), doesn't get into things, and is quite possibly the most gorgeous dog in existence (

Yeah for adopting a dog from a shelter - what kind of dog (or mutt) is she? Is she spayed and how old is she?

Of course she is spayed (they wouldn't let us take her home till she was, but it turns out she came in spayed). She's 4 years old. She's certainly a mix, looks a bit like a spitz type, reddish hair, curly fluffy tail, medium length hair, perky ears. They said she was a chow mix. She looks a little like a chow, but with no excess skin (so no wrinkles), and her ears aren't the little rounded hooded ears of a chow, they look more like a german shepard's ears, but a bit thicker.
