I officially finished my first year of teaching on Friday! The last 2.5 months have been crazy. I did end up visiting with my aunt, which was really nice. I feel like I can continue to have some sort of relationship with that branch of my dad's side of the family. The rest I still don't know about, but time will tell. It's FINALLY Spring Break...though how much of a break it's going to be is still hard to say. I have to lesson plan, plan for my PSAE workshops, and possibly read a dissertation. Wow...I haven't updated this thing since New Year's. The year, so far, has gone on an usual: frantic lesson-planning, spending time with Jon and Gina, that sort of thing. Not much has happened since my last entry. Saw Amanda over Thanksgiving, which was fun, as it's been way too long since we hung out. I met Jon's youngest sister and mother and a couple more of his friends, all of whom were very nice and friendly. My senior kids retook the ACT today, which thankfully means no more early morning prep sessions. Woohoo! I was also observed by the principal and received similar praises as from the superintendent, so apparently I'm not doing too badly :) Thursday and Friday are my first parent-teacher conferences, though, so we'll see what their view of me is. The past month has been insane. I've finally got a system worked out with the lesson plans: get around 17-18 done on the weekend, two each on Monday and Tuesday, take Wednesday off to see Jon, do 2-4 more on Thursday, and then take Friday off. So, I survived August. A lot comes with that sentence. My apartment is finally liveable--I have all the major pieces of furniture assembled. My office has all the personal touches and is quite homey, my living room has pretty couches, an entertainment center, a nice dining room. I went to my cousin's wedding yesterday. That was...an experience. First, despite the fact that I arrived at home exhausted, but on-time and ready, my mother and sister had not even started getting dressed.
