Two days ago I opened at a Starbucks I hadn't been to before. My store is technically in the Financial District, so occasionally I will switch around to different stores when they are understaffed. My store is actually a tourist trap, filled with kids on school field trips, handing over crinkled sweaty dollar bills for extra extra caramel caramel ( Read more... )

Where's Barrett teaching? Wallenpaupack? That's so strangely, weirdly, great :o)

I miss Barrett....tell him I say hi next time you talk to him.

no, he and diana are teaching closer to where they went to school, i believe.. closer to philly/new jersey. and his job sounds pretty awful - he deals with delinquet kids that can't cope in regular classrooms. they usually stay with him for about three months before going back to their class, so he doesn't even really get to develop lasting relationships with them. when they hired him they said the last three people hadn't made it through the year. but yes, i will tell him that you say hi if by chance i see him again any time soon. :)

I've decided that I like to photograph architecture. Building really don't mind if you take their picture.
I've noticed I have to be almost sneaky to take pictures of people. To catch them when they're "natural". But then of course if they do see you, they know it's sneaky. And it's such a quandry.
And in the next few days I have to do my portrait assignment. I'm not looking forward to it.
I hope you'll post some of your pictures from this entry. I think we'd all love to see them.

yep, yep, yep.. i agree on all accounts. i admire people that can take great pictures of pictures - some people just have the gift of talking to people and getting them to open up to them.

and thanks.. hopefully i'll be able to scan my photos sometime this semester.

This entry is beautiful. I would love to see some of the photos you took. And I'm also, well, I feel so privileged to actually have a real idea or at least somewhat idea of what these things look like, and then to hear about how much they mean to you.

Love.
