Parents are like dolphins. They have this general public image of being delightful, intelligent, helpful creatures, so we're surprised whenever a group of researchers remind us that they have skulls thick enough to headbutt sharks to death, and that they possess the tendency to occasionally eat their young.

An acquaintance of mine, who used to be more of a friend than he is these days, has a well-deserved reputation for trying to fuck anything that walks.
