I love #4. It looks the slightest bit like Leonardo da Vinci doing Gondolin, so, obviously, I think it is very good. And for some reason, I really like the hair in the ballpen sketch.
Again, I love these. (I'm back for another look from the office now.) #1 and #5 are my favourite Ecthelions; I also like #4 a lot. I'm hugely envious of your huge talent, by the way.
I really like #5, too, but there's something about #1's expression - either his eyes or mouth or both? 5 looks like an older, more serious Ecthelion. And #4 is beautiful. I can imagine Glofindel having that one on his nightstand.
I remember having seen and admired #1 in Tehta's LJ some time ago, but I think I now prefer #2. #4 is also great! In #5 he looks younger again (Ecthelion in Alqualonde?) After a while of looking #4 is definitely my favourite here.
Again, I like #4 loads, although #1 will always have a place in my heart. Well, #5 is great too, but I think I prefer #4 because I like to see him doing something useful, and his concentration seems to have a meaningful focus there. #5 makes me a bit afraid that he is watching me lounge about and judging me.
And I think #2 is an official portrait in a specific sketchy style. Maybe a book illustration for a listing of Elven heroes? With the fountain crest and all.
I agree, #2 has an official look, not just because of the Fountain crest, but mainly because of the angle - he's looking slightly down on us.
#5 looks admittedly like a passport photo, I wanted nothing more than to explore facial features. So no action or emotion. But I can see him wearing a slightly dark and judging look most of the time. Mostly critical about himself, but people would easily mistake it and keep their distance.

#1 looks alive, it is not perfect but it has a soul, whereas #5 looks a bit like E's passport photo.
