It's been a pretty good summer for concerts, all in all. I saw The Never back in Chapel Hill, which was fun and somewhat indier than thou. I still do not have a t-shirt that says "Fight the Panopticon."

Let me know when you find one! The undergrad Comm club made a couple of special edition ones for the big-name prof who advised them when I was taking courses. He had his pick of "What the Foucault?" and my own personal favorite, a stylishly faded black number with the word H E G E M O N Y in red.

It occurs to me that the virtual requirement for using Foucault, particularly at Berkeley in the 80s and 90s, could be construed as all the academics trying to demonstrate which of them were the true BNFs of the panopticon.

Also, bonus points for use of crazy Uncle Arvin in a Foucault post. Rambaldi ball=symbol of overlapping power structures?

Speaking of politics and power, the State Within is coming up on my Netflix- do not let me forget to email you with my thoughts on this.

I saw John Mayer several years ago as part of a double-header with Counting Crows, and was pleasantly surprised at how awesome he is on guitar. I think his later stuff is much better at letting out his Inner Jazz Dude and a lot less cotton candy-ish.
