Okay, this has been bothering me for the longest time. Why are both of these called spatulas?

Spatulas! What a conundrum. I've been thinking about them lately too, as my new flatmate keeps using mine to fry his sausages (which I don't mind), and then he doesn't wash it and leaves it in his cupboard all dirty and greasy (which I DO mind). I keep nagging, (well, mostly I'm passive aggressive about it but I HAVE talked to him) but to no avail! < /domestic rant>

But yeah. One of my flatmates calls a spatula used for frying a "fish-turner" or something. Like you can only use it for fish. What?

Annnnyway. In conclusion, yay for spatulas.

correction: he calls it a "fish-slice" - apparently it's a British thing.

Not that this adds anything constructive, but you know. I am clearly studying hard for my Monday exam.

I'm sure fish-slices are highly relevant to your exam!

Also? I'm extremely jealous of the fact that you're in Britain. How did you get there again? Someone told me and then I forgot.

I want to call someone my "flatmate." =/

:D I'm the exotic foreign exchange student. Or something.

Flat is much easier to say than apartment, so I'm all for it. It makes up for having to use "way out" instead of "exit". And calling dish soap "washing-up liquid." Okay, maybe it doesn't quite make up for washing-up liquid. Heh.

rubbery: spatula
hard: flipper

perhaps that will clear some air?

A solid way to differentiate in a panic!

Apparently the term "flipper" has developed quite the slang following!

I've just been thinking about spatulas yesterday. It's such a fun word to say! By the way, Elgar + Bach + Prokofiev = you're my favourite cellist. I don't know the Popper, but I'm sure it'll be great.

Yay rep! dailna June 11 2007, 14:51:43 UTC
Apparently the Popper might have to get switched now. One of the professors I played for in Ohio said that it was like... a soft option for the "virtuosic piece" requirement. We'll see...

Come to my birthday party.

Come see me ever.

I miss you.

And it sounds like you have too much time on your hands with this spatula thing.
