Her head was pounding. The rest of her wasn't feeling too great either. Mia woke slowly, becoming aware that she was lying on a hard surface, that it was drizzling lightly above her and that her hair felt tacky. She put her fingers to it and opened her eyes slowly to look at the slight stickiness on them--old blood. She must have struck her head...
Awareness returned completely. Mia sat up slowly, realizing that she had been lying in the street, and the buildings around her told her that she was somewhere near Union Square Park--that's right, she had just met with Sora and Flute...except...their meeting had been at dusk, and from the light shining between the buildings on the east side, it was morning. Mia's heart seized. Had she--? She had fainted again, she remembered sudden dizziness, and blackness consuming her version--Christ, she must have been out here all night.
She got to her feet slowly, grasping at a newspaper stand for balance, with no other thought but to get home.
