I want the DVD NOW! :D

I am still going "OK, so Spock came back 129 years, so that means, no hang on, yes it does, oh no" etc etc etc. I think I'll have to wait for the DVD and try and work it out then XD

I was surprised by the Uhura/Spock thing too because I didn't remember picking up even a whiff of that from the original series or the movies. I was tickled to death by Doctor McCoy and the bit that explained his nickname, and that whole madcap sequence where the injection gone wrong gets Jim onto the Enterprise. And I just loved Scotty and his gleeful can-do attitude, and the revelation that he tested his transporter idea on Admiral Archer's prize beagle. :D

The injection sequence was hilarious, and I loved Scotty and the beagle.

In one of the very early episodes (Charlie X), Uhura sang while Spock was playing his harp, and in another (I'm pretty sure it was Balance of Terror) she had a conversation with him about Vulcan having no moon - she was very much flirting with him and he was happy with that (in a Spock way, of course XD )

Doctor McCoy was called Bones in the original series because it was a play on 'Saw-bones', which is what surgeons aboard ships/in the army etc used to be called. I was slightly irked by the new explanation because of that :D

Well, the explanation was entirely different from the original series, but I think that's because "Saw-bones" has fallen out of common use in English. And throwing in an ex-wife gave another facet to McCoy's character.

(And I can really see that McCoy has a failed marriage behind him. He's smart and easy on the eyes, but the pessimism, stubbornness and barely-restrained hyperactivity would wear on a woman after a while.)

He had a failed marriage in the original, so I liked that bit of continuity. I also loved that he was on the bridge a lot, as in the original series.

I can't wait for the next film XD

Why are so many alien ships (in all sci-fi films, not just Star Trek) constructed apparently without any reference to Health and Safety regulations?

Hee! And I know what you mean about 'Spock' kind of being an amalgam of the two. It was really scary in a way just how amazing Quinto was. He totally carried the film for me (although Scotty did his best to upstage, lol). And I kept thinking about Uhura singing to him as well, and was totally awww :)
