i had forgotten how visually boring students of history are. smart as whips, the lot of them, and so articulate... but such bad dressers. that being said, classes are going well. the reading is extensive but engaging, and i walk out of every class with a smile on my face. it's good to be back in the saddle again ( Read more... )

this whole hurricane katrina thing is odd, considering last thursday at dinner with my parents, i remarked that i wanted to make sure i went south before new orleans was destroyed by a natural disaster of sorts.

there are some kids writing really beautiful ljs all the time and i am glad for it, even though i can no longer do the same. maybe when i get to another life level. in the meantime, i thank those of you who have been encouraging about grad school. it must be, and so it shall. i am going to stop asking life to give me a break because life apparently ( Read more... )

worth a read

interesting, having traveled on both sides of the now mostly metaphorical berlin wall. i loved the former east germany so much more than the former west. example: dresden. i could have lived there. it felt like home.
