Per "maestro":

There are no gigs that anyone in or thinking of leaving the group have pursued or attempted to damage this club in any way. No one who was considering leaving at the end of the year has pursued anything and no new group has been formed, nor has anyone worked to undermine Ring. There was actually a meeting a month or so ago where ( Read more... )

Where was all this said? Dragonmarch? I'm still not approved to actually read the forums, is there another way of posting? I have no idea if it would do any good or not, but I'd at least like to take a stab at it, especially considering that I'm going to be far far away for the next two weeks and wouldn't be attending practice even if all was sunshine and marshmallows in the land of Ring.

Perhaps being far far away is going to turn out to be a good thing. This looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Hi Anne -

Sorry - I've been lax - I'm the one who approves memberships to Dragonmarch (I own the site) and gets them to the posting stage. I'll take care of this immediately.

So Maestro no long has time for any of these people? Is that a problem? Do they want to learn quarterstaff? I've been itching to teach people quarterstaff. I keep hearing people talk about how the club is Maestro's. That is and always has been bullshit. The club is the people. If Maestro doesn't want them at Kriksville, fine. Let him run it with a skeleton crew. I've asked this before, and I'll ask it again. Do we NEED Maestro's signature on anything to perform somewhere as Ring of Steel? I'm not trying to suggest a coup here, I'm just curious about why everyone seems to limit the options to dictatorship or nothing.

Quarterstaff? Hell yes, I've got my own equipment and everything.

Oh, yeah, hi Dave. It's Anne, how are you?

Yes - we need his approval since the insurance and the clubs name are both his property. We can't teach at STAC unless he wants you to and we cannot accept any performance that he doesn't feel is sanctioned for the group. Being hte president he has the right to decide what is taught and who teaches it. Legally he has to sign off on the contract to make it ok and for us to be covered by the insurance. Unfortunately, maestro owns the name and the "club" so to speak, as well as some of the choreography that we do. If he doesn't want us somewhere he can say we can't do it under the auspices of Ring.

Ah, this reminds me of the time that I was kicked out of Ring because Jurgo quit...

Good times.
