I'd like to see a Director's Cut that has less "explanation for the dumber audience members", especially in the last bit. Other than that, I loved it quite a bit.
Naturally, my favorite thing about the movie was a meta-element of its storytelling: it's a movie with a surprise trick about entertainment with a surprise trick, and how that sort of entertainment only works if the audience really wants to let themselves be fooled by the surprise trick. The people who didn't like it, I find, are the types that aren't happy letting themselves be fooled by tricks.
That said, a director's cut where the surprise trick is trickier and less obvious would be nice.
I'm in the "too much foreshadowing" camp, but I still thought it was a good movie. I just kept getting the feeling that it was meant to be a very smart movie that was toned down a bit for the average audience. Thus there were things that I felt were meant to be surprising or shocking, except that I already knew they were going to happen.
But yeah, it did a great job with style. I should probably go see Memento though...
