Oh, it's sucking everywhere. I feel as though every department is on edge and overworked, understaffed, underpaid. I actually had to stop myself yesterday both from crying about something completely stupid, and retaliating via e-mail. I had to take a step back and say, "This is mainly because ppl are stressed, and it sucks. The ppl snapping at me are my friends. It must be bad."

It's tense everywhere.

I also think that the Secret Shopper system is inherently flawed because there is no accountability from the shopper. Trying to maintain a high level of customer service, even in difficult times, is admirable. Completely discounting your staff is skewed. I am actually enjoying some of the power that the consumer has in this market with companies scrambling to get rid of their product to make their budgets. I would never, however, abuse staff with this power--only discounts. ;-) I think customers object mainly to prices when their wallets are already under such strain. Offer discounts--pretty hefty ones--and they might still
