Shea was telling me about this last night. I'm so sorry about Bengal, and sorry we couldn't help out right now, though it's probably better for them to be nursed directly anyway. Unfortunately, the college board people still severely limit testing dates, etc. (frankly, I don't understand why entrance tests aren't being done at a testing center somewhere, by computer, so they can be done at people's convenience AND scored immediately, but I'm sure someone benefits by the current system, sigh). Let us know how it turns out!
How is Shea doing? I called her as soon as I had them placed. I actually saw the momma cat take them in and start licking them and letting them nurse. I believe they will be all right. I'm sorry I made her cry. For all of you, there is absolutely NO shame in saying NO.
She was OK by the time I got home, once she knew that the kittens had been taken in by the queen. She's just a little on edge about the whole ACT thing, sigh.
I bet this is the best arrangement that you could have gotten for them. The milk from that mama kitty will be better for them than the man-made formula and they will get love and snuggles from her and their new litter mates as well! Good job in a tough situation. BTW - the SPCA in Austin (different organization than the Austin Animal Shelter) is No Kill but they have a waiting list and require that all animals surrendered to them be prior pets.
