I'm getting ready to spend the night alone, backpacking in the woods, for the first time. Weather permitting - I'm not going to deal with rain since I don't have to. I'm kinda nervous, I've developed a bit of unreasonable bear paranoia even when Chris is with me, but I gotta get over that!

Last weekend, husband and I went down to Seward for the second annual "Fill the Freezer" fishing charter. We came home with four halibut, 7 coho - enough fillets for 1/week for the next year. On the way to Seward we stopped at the Wildlife Conservation Center. The bears were more active than I'd ever seen them, and there was a baby musk ox to boot!
