That's some awesome material. Would do well as a band for a hat.

Hatband is a great idea. They have all sorts of William Morris fabrics, here: http://stores.ebay.com/CHATSWORTH-COLLECTIBLES_WILLIAM-MORRIS-FABRICS_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ2QQftidZ2QQtZkm

William Morris, you say? That is probably why it is good. I've heard good things. If I ever see any of that fabric in NZ, I'll get my mother to make me a hatband for my top hat. Or maybe for the panama...

Michelle Leggott, the poet I am studying with, is partially blind, so I've taken to wearing my panama hat every day, so that I don't have to introduce myself, as she knows exactly as I am when she sees big yellow blur on head. The responses I've been getting about it - somewhat flattering. Happy stew.

CAN YOU MAKE ME ONE FUNERARY DRESS PLEASE.

(never mind. i live with a seamstress)

on my friends page here, its just great - its got stews "sequined dress of bad habits" right there below your dress. maybe its a hint- you need a secret row of sequins somewhere there on your funerary gown. for the party aspect. i forget how irish you are.

I should do a row of black sequins on the inside hem so there's a hallucinatory flash when I walk.

The planned dress will be a hybrid of here http://www.themexicandress.com/

I can sew velcro onto it before I join the sides if I'm not going to make smaller ties off the ends.

Tried the test dress and as sketched, the flounces are way too cheerful for a funeral dress. Way too.

Maybe something nearly straight up and down with a little 3-inch ruffle at the hem, but no more than that.
