When some of you were pregnant, did you have acid reflux? I have horrible, horrible acid reflux and can't seem to get any relief. I dreamed the other night I was eating coals out of a campfire and breathing fire like it was a parlor trick. heheh

also, what did you guys use during your pregnancy for stretch marks? I'm looking at you here, ozmaofoz. I ( Read more... )

I had awful acid reflux throughout the entire pregnancy. I would carry tums/rolaids in my purse and chew on them constantly. Drink a lot of water. I also ended up sleeping kinda proped up some nights because it would be worse when I laid down. It's one of the unfortunate and unavoidable parts of this process.

Keep in mind that stretch marks are genetic. You can use all kinds of things to help but at the end of the day, your skin is how it is because of your genes and none of the products can change that at a certain point. I made it all the way to the size of a singleton pregnancy without a single mark, but once I got bigger then average with the twins, my skin just couldn't take it. I'm already a huge lotion whore so I was even worse in hopes of avoiding stretch marks. No luck. I mention this so that you don't end up buying one of the expensive products and being disappointed from your investment. I call them my pregnancy tattoos!

I like that! Pregnancy tattoos! Little badges of honor. hehehe. There is a girl who works next door to Fioza that suggested some cocoa butter based products that she said seemed to work well for her but she hated the greasy feeling the product left on her skin.

Thank you f0r the advice with the acid reflux. In my case, water seems to be the culprit. I can be fine until I start drinking water and then it's all over with. I'm really leery of taking any over the counter meds while I'm pregnant. As I'm sure most women do, I've become incredibly self aware of what is being put into my body. Since your little ones turned out perfectly I don't think I'll worry so much now about taking tums for it.

I'll tell you a secret, one day I even ate a hot dog during the pregnancy! And then spent the next 2 weeks terrified that I would kill my babies. So yeah, I totally understand about the being careful with your body. At the same time, I also ended up with food poisoning from sour soy milk and we all turned out just fine. I think that as long as you are mindful, all will go well!

I used the palmers or parmers, not sure the exact name, cocoa butter cream which I love as a lotion anyway. I'm a freak and don't mind or notice when stuff is greasy! Lotion whore I tell ya.

Oh gurl. I have been freaking a little about certain things. For one the cat. I'm afraid the stupid cat is going to give me the toxmosis...toxicity....whatever cat disease it is they carry around that 40% of cat owners seem to catch.

I'm glad you told me about the food poisoning from the soy milk because before I found out I was pregnant, I got a slight touch of food poisoning from Becks Prime. It was the first place to open after the hurricane and I was sooooooo tired of hurricane food that Jimmy Skinner and I ate a huge burger and fries meal with glee.....and then I got sick. I've tried not to worry about it because I just don't want to get myself hyped up over anything. I want to remain in a calm state for most of my pregnancy if I can pull it off. I haven't gotten any crazy mood swings yet like my mom tells me she went through. I feel a little more relaxed because you boys turned out all good.

I was a teenager when mom starting having more kids so I hear Vitamin E and/or Cocoa Butter for stretch marks. Preferably Vitamin E in "gooey form", to rub in.

Thanks. I need to get up on that and get some. You know what else I need to do? Take out my navel ring. I tried the other day and couldn't get it apart. I've had that sucker since I was like 21 yrs old.

Hrmm. I never thought about mung beans with sugar. I love those vietnamese bean puddings and i make them from time to time. I'm beginning to learn what foods I can and cannot have to keep the acid reflux at bay so it's not as bad as it was when I wrote this. No tomatoes or raw red bell peppers, pizza of any kind, and nothing even lightly fried for me. My boss has been nice enough to work with me and not make me work over time like I had been. Sitting past eight hours, even with 15 min or more of walking a day, was really pissing my tummy off. I made the mistake of getting Thai food one day because I was really craving it and boy was that uncomfortable.
