Night 54: Basement - West Hall

[from here]The narrowness of the space was the first thing he noticed. The walls were lined with candles here too, but it took a fair amount of squinting nonetheless for Indy to pick out the details of their surroundings. The door had opened onto a tight corridor, the end of which he couldn't see from here. He raised a free hand to brush the ( Read more... )

[back from here]Coliseum. He knew what the word meant. Big, oval sports arena-cum-concert venue. His mental dictionary had survived the scouring. There just seemed like something missing. Maybe it was just the fact that the basement was, like, forbidden conversational territory. Indy glanced at the miniature shield Dent'd tossed him as they rushed back out into the hallway. The metal looked and felt like silver, but he didn't recognize the markings. Shrugging, he tucked it under his arm. There'd be time to study the artifact in more detail later; for now, they needed to move as fast as possible. They'd already been luckier than he expected tonight. Maybe it would hold.

"Keep moving forward," he answered without hesitating. He also took the opportunity to set the broken candle down out of their way and pick up another one from the wall while it was still available. No telling what was behind the next door.

It looked like they were going to wait to discuss what the coliseum might hold for them (it seemed obvious) and what needed to be done to get the second artifact. The clearest option was to just go through the door that was opposite the ornate one they'd already tried, but Harvey did have to wonder where all of the other doors that led off of the ballroom went.

One thing at a time, though, especially since it looked like the other two had already made up their minds about where to go.

Harvey considered advising Jones against carrying candles anymore, but it was the man's own fault if he got himself burned again. He shook his head and moved forward, taking charge in opening the next door.
