As he walked out into the larger hallway, Byrne subconsciously checked to see that Badd was still with him. Good, he was. He definitely felt much better traveling around here with a friend than being alone, partly because that friend actually had a goddamn flashlight. (Seriously, he needed to get a pen or something and write CHECK FOR FLASHLIGHT!! on his hand so that he wouldn't forget to search next time. This was getting ridiculous.)
There were other things to worry about than the lack of a flashlight, however. For instance, where Kay was, if Kay was safe, and how he'd be able to handle hearing the rest of what would--will--happen in the not-too distant future. He considered asking Badd about all three of those things right now, but he quickly decided against it; it was better to wait. They needed to agreed on where to go and be sure that they actually knew how to get there first.
