Looked like this was the quiet route after all. Anise landed softly on the ground and immediately located and retrieved her meat tenderizer. Her flashlight went on again, and she looked around to make sure there was nothing coming after them. "I think we're clear!" she announced, though the others could probably see just as well as she could.
Luckily for all of them, the Cafeteria doors were a short distance ahead, so there wouldn't be much chance of enemies finding and coming after them. They'd be back indoors in no time - and hopefully without any weirdos getting in their way this time.
After picking up his sword and making sure he had a secure grip, Claude dropped down into the grass after Anise. "Good," he said with a nod once he'd stood up straight again. "Hopefully it'll stay that way."
As quiet as it was, he knew it wasn't unheard of for Special Counseling patients or monsters to hang around the courtyard. They were lucky nothing was waiting for them, but they also didn't need to stay out here longer than necessary. He began to move toward the doors leading into the Cafeteria, making sure his friends were still nearby.
They were getting to the final stretch before the basement at this point. All they could do was stay alert, move quickly, and keep their fingers crossed.
Guy hit the ground practically in unison with Claude, grabbing for his flashlight and quickly turning it on to give the courtyard a closer look. It was as Anise said, though: everything seemed still and quiet here. Maybe the guard posted for the outside areas had been placed at the recreational field after all. He breathed a sigh of relief, though he knew he couldn't really relax until they had made it all the way down to the ballroom.
And even after they got that far, they would be entering a place they'd never been, tempting fate by listening to the words of a man who had tortured them for so long.
Guy only hoped that his decision to look into this didn't end up hurting his friends. He sent a worried glance at both Claude and Anise as he moved toward the door that would take them inside. Luckily, they all reached it without incident and Guy slipped through.
