The further they continued, the more Ema was convinced that some sort of irritant had been in the air toward the end of the previous hallway. There was an unpleasant stinging in her eyes and sinuses that caused a production of moisture in both. Sniffling and blinking, she slowed her pace significantly in order to prevent herself from walking into something (or something) while so distracted.
"Did either of you feel something back there?" Or was she suddenly suffering a malfunction related to her M-U?

Of course, things could never be simple either. Harvey couldn't ignore the fact that something was bothering him all of a sudden. The first sign of it was a burning in his throat and then a tingling sensation all across his wounded face. His eyes started to water soon after and he had to pull his arm up to wipe at them (not seeming to care that he was putting pressure on the burns at the same time).
Before he could make any comment on it himself, Ema also mentioned feeling something. "Yeah... yeah. Still feeling it, actually." He remembered the time that he'd walked through that section of the second floor and had also experienced strange effects, although that had felt more like a ( ... )

Zero was about to respond to Ema's concern when he noticed that something was wrong with his respiratory system. His throat and nose felt like they were burning, being most noticeable every time he took a breath. (How did a human feel the inside of their body burning like this? It felt so strange.) Soon afterward the burning sensation spread to his eyes, which grew moist in response. It wasn't just him, he realized; Ema and Mr. Dent appeared to be having similar reactions ( ... )
