Night 58: Main Hallway, 2-Center

[from here]The first difference Kurogane noted in comparing this hallway with its lower counterpart was how open it appeared. The usual walls of the Sun Room were absent, replaced with new hallways bordering a railing that overlooked the Sun Room - another area that he had made a point of avoiding after one too many incidents. Above that opening ( Read more... )

[From here. Timeskipping Scott and Peter.]

Maybe it was due to the fact that they had taken some time to get going, but it seemed pretty quiet up here. Harvey didn't even know where the most "popular" places were to go at night at this point. There were enough areas open to them now, from the outside to the medical wing to the basement, that it was pretty easy for patients to disperse. Maybe that meant that they still had a chance of being the first to reach the janitor's closet.

As he led them down the hall, he sent a glance toward the chapel. They were right here, but it would be pointless to go visit the soldier who was probably waiting there by now. "That's the chapel right there. Let's hope none of our fellow patients are stupid enough to go rat on our double agent."

Ema probably already knew that's where the chapel was, but Zero could probably benefit for the information. With that taken care of, Harvey kept moving.

Though neither Ema nor Mr. Dent knew who the traitor was, Zero still learned a few important details from their responses to his question. He could now recognize the voice over the intercom as Aguilar; also, Marc was indeed the radio man's name, and it wasn't him that was considered the traitor here. Zero mentally noted these facts down as he continued to move along with the rest of the group. They were helpful facts, but not enough. It seemed like there were more and more questions being spawned every time something happened around here, and no one could provide good enough answers for them all. It was frustrating - and dangerous - when others were as clueless as you ( ... )

With a brief nod, Ema silently agreed with Mr. Dent. The worst thing anyone in the institute could do was turn on each other, even under threat of harm. The patients had so few advantages as it was; there was no need to throw their allies under the bus and cripple their chances of escape further. Even if either she or Zero had felt otherwise, however, Mr. Dent made it clear that they were not stopping.

Ema was okay with that, and she kept walking as she turned to address Zero. "That might not be a good idea. He's probably armed and we're kind of defenseless." Well, she was defenseless. "What if it's some kind of trap?"

Also, was it her, or did it feel like there was something in the air as they continued down the hallway. They didn't really stop long enough for her to post the question or try to evaluate the air quality, but she certainly could feel something as they hit the last legs of the hall and moved on.
