As Rita raced into the next hallway, she realized: she wasn't fatigued. At all. It was as if she had all of her original strength back. And it felt amazing.
The moment was almost ruined when the sound of growling reached Rita's ears. She flinched, turning to face the source: a wretched-looking dog with matted fur and probably more than a few diseases. Its growl turned into a snarl as it broke into a run, lunging at the mage.
To avoid the attack, Rita jumped into the air... then didn't come back down. It looked like her ability to levitate had returned to her as well. Floating in mid-air, she raised herself high enough to avoid the creature's attack... then quickly began to prepare her counter-attack. "Nice try, dog," she taunted the beast. "Now try this on for size! Demon's Lance!A small, dark portal manifested in front of her, and from it, a lance formed of dark energy emerged... and was immediately shot down at the dog.
