Okay, first off I should tell you that I grew myself a pencil thin mustache, ala John Waters, Ed Wood, and Tav Falco, and also I made my sideburns very pointy, and, oh, my hair is full of natural grease and slicked back, and my eyes have dark bags under them, as always, and I'm thin. I look vaugely latin, or, to be more precise, like a seedy, bongo ( Read more... )

My god! Amber! Naked Lunch will knock you on your ass. It's indescribable. I suggest you try to get you hands on Junky as well. It's Burroughs' first novel, and it's much more conventional, but still there's nothing like it. The only book I've ever read that I think I like better is probably Go Now, Richard Hell's first novel [he came out with another one last year, Godlike, which was really good as well, and also there's a big, hardback book of his called Hot and Cold that has a bunch of his poetry and essays and nude photographs and journal entries. Man, Richard is so cool.] But wow! You've read one of Nick Cave's books!? That is so cool! And The Ass Saw The Angel? Is that the one from the point of view of an unborn fetus, or something like that? Because that one is the only book of his I've heard about. But wow! I'm impressed, and envious. And you're right. He's the bestest. I just bought a DVD with fifteen of his videos. They are sooo cool. Especially the ones for Red Right Hand and Stagger Lee[love the bit in that song, what was ( ... )

it starts out in the point of view of a fetus, you are correct. the story follows that of poor mute boy (the said fetus..) and hes growing up in a small godblind hick town. ( i think i just made up the term godblind. im not sure if i like it or not. its supposed to mean that like they are so religious they cant fucking see the obvious sort of thing... make sense?) and he (euchrid the kids name is) believes god talks to him and that hes put on the earth to do gods bidding. to punish people who have done wrong. i must admit i was put off a bit by the religion shit at the beginning but then it turns out to be so twisted and dark. lonley. its so good.

nick cave also wrote like 3 other books (and no, i have not been privilaged enough to read any of them). fish in a barrel, king ink, and king ink II....

and where did you get a richard hell book?

im going to start naked lunch once school starts again. i have books while everyone else has friends. its kind of sad...
