FNNLC: almost Christmas!

Dec 11, 2015 18:10

Not that I am bourgeois enough to keep track of things, but there is only a few weeks until Christmas. Also only a few weeks until Solstice, when the days start getting longer!

But for now it's dark and very rainy, and the only thing we have to do is eschew activities and embrace the Internet!

So how are you doing on this cold night?

Excellent!

It's actually been a while since I've seen any MST3K

Is this the real NLC?
Is this where the party is?

The real party...is in your heart.

But to be honest, I'm not feeling very festive. The dark and cold has kind of broken my strife. But I was hoping someone would kick me into a more festive mood.

I was going to get some eggnog and some rum and maybe also some hot buttered rum mix for when I ran out of eggnog, but then that didn't happen. I can't put up lights this year, and I don't know if there's even room for a tree in our new place. I hear you on the lack of festive.

I feel lack of festivity for reasons other than just logistics.

Mostly I'm getting to the age that most of my friends are married with children and they aren't up for staying up until 6 AM. No road trips ending in a suburban Denny's and coffee until dawn. No coca mate and the sudden desire to visit Maryland. No trance albums played on repeat as the lights reflect off puddles of water and through window panes.

Hot cocoa in my belly, a kitty curled up next to me, and the Simpsons on the TV. Life doesn't suck.

Old Simpsons or new Simpsons?

I haven't heard much from the Simpsons, for a while. Not even people complaining how much it's gone downhill.

New Simpsons. It was meh.

I do wonder what the generation that has made Adventure Time/Steven Universe/Gravity Falls the subject of endless discourse would think of the Simpsons.

Like it's still mentioned on tumblr, but more as a stock reference than as something that raises interest.
