Just a heads up for those waiting on a response from me - I'm reading everything you're saying in the comments of previous posts and I will be meeting with some folks at LJ when I return from "Eastover" (what happens when Passover gets celebrated during Eastover because that's when folks have time off). I will have limited email/internet access ( Read more... )

Thank you for keeping us updated! I really appreciate how much effort you've been putting into talking to us through your journal, even if I don't always have something to say. It's a relief feeling that someone is looking out for us here.

Any chance that you might enquire about this too?

Whatever the reasons behind it, it does tend to feed the unpleasant impression that "LiveJournal thinks fanfiction and queer people are an embarrassment."

ETA: the change now appears to have been reversed, but the comment reply here looks like unambiguous confirmation that those interests were deliberately being filtered. I suspect a lot of people are now wondering why, and whether the filtering would have been removed if users hadn't noticed.

ETA2: There have now been a few vague comment from an LJ staff member, buried deep amid the threads at news, to the effect that the filtering was a "mistake" and did not represent "company-wide" opinion. Followed by dead silence.

Oh, really. But who could think it would come to that ? Nosik always treated free speech like... like brother, didn't he ? Though... regrettably... he was not exactly his brother's keeper.

Many thanks for your response and attention to everyone's comments.

And not to give you more tsuris after the latest boneheaded account decision, but I think it's essential you aware that LJ/SUP is censoring the daily popular interests report: http://stewardess.livejournal.com/288147.html.

I'll also be posting this in Brad's journal.

Whoopsie. I can see someone just beat me to the happy news.

Have you seen this from Evgeny Morozov on lj's recent decision to summarily delete a bunch of user interests? It's short and to the point and worth reading if you have a moment...
