I know what you mean about being a minority as a white female in math. I got my B.Sc. and Ph.D. in math in 1973 and 1977 and was either the only female or one of two in almost all my math classes. It's a lot better today. About 45% of math B.Sc.s are and 30% of math Ph.D.s are female and they're not all asian by any means. I hope you come to Mudd. I started as president four months ago and I totally love it. I'm sure you will be taken seriously as a candidate for the corporate scholars program ... at least a couple of our current corporate scholars are white females. If you have any questions feel free to email me directly. I'm klawe@hmc.edu

I think you will get a wonderful education wherever you go - that is more a product of putting effort into school and trying to learn. The difference is the peer group. The people at Harvey Mudd are intense and to some people really cool (like me), but others wouldn't want to hang out with them I guess. OR would want something different. Whatever.
It is funny though - finally after 3 years of college I feel like I am prepared to make the decision about where I would go. . . .
But I'm fairly sure that you will do well, no matter what.
