ok i think o'brien mostly wrote this book because he wanted to come to some sort of closure about his own experiences. Even though the book is a fiction book, i still think that he wrote it for himself. i think he uses "story truths" so that he can re-live some of his experiences the way he wishes they couldve gone. kind of like in the chapter " ( Read more... )

ok i think that i would've rather not read that copyright page because it kind of ruins it. Like you know how when you're watching a movie or something and the hero saves the girl and all that good stuff and u absolutely love the movie, but then somebody reminds you that it would never happen and it kind of sucks the fun out of it for you? but ( Read more... )

For some reason this prompt is terribly hard to comment on for me. Mostly because i'm not so sure if shame really does affect heroism or stupidity. I suppose that it can draw stupidity. The book has been ok so far... nothing too special yet, but I'm sure it will be getting better because it's only the beginning!
