Micromanagement and Disrespect? Or just Naivety?

Today was a bit challenging.  I'm always looking to improve on how I handle stressful situations, but sometimes my boss can make that extremely tough to do.  I've realized that talking to my boss about what I would like to do with my department is completely pointless.  It's an absolute waste of my time and energy.  He constantly changes things ( Read more... )

Oh man. While it may sound like normal stuff, it’s unacceptable and it’s not good at all for your career, I think you’re right to decide to try to move on. My husband was running into similar issues last year. He threw out some resumes to places where he also liked the company and mission, and started a new job in January making six thousand dollars more per year. It did take him 6 months before anyone gave him an interview, but when he got one, he got the job. While he still cares about the team he worked with and keeps in touch with them on a personal basis, he’s so glad he jumped ship. Having a manager who you can’t trust is a major problem. Now that he has a great boss, I’m pretty sure I will never, ever hear him say that he should have stayed at his old job...

It's always good to hear positive stories about how people who made the jump feel like it's the best decision. It's a struggle for me, because I do enjoy this business. It's an even deeper struggle because I have a feeling he won't be around much longer. It's a decision if I can stick it out for a while longer or if this will be too much for me.
