Sam Harris is coming to our fair city to give a talk on October 21. It looks like he hasn't lined up a venue yet so tickets aren't on sale, but he's giving a talk the day before in Seattle and he's charging only $5/seat for that one. Well, we finally did it. We traded our two cars in to a dealership and bought one car to replace them. Since I've been biking so much, we really didn't need two cars and we certainly didn't need to pay insurance and maintenance on two cars.

I rode my bike a long way last weekend. Here is a map made from the GPS data of someone else on the ride, my GPS recording device was also my emergency-ride-summoning device, so I couldn't risk killing the battery.

So I have a new bike wheel and it's beautiful. It's got a groove in the rims all the way around that the guy in the bike shop called a "water channel." Maybe that means it'll stop better in the rain? I hope so. Mostly I just hope it'll hold up for the STP.

So I was at Burgerville the other day and they have a Ye Olde Tyme Juke Box with lighted tubes of liquid around the edges and bubbles of gas floating up through the liquid. Now, as I understand the world around me, those bubbles of gas should be under less and less pressure the higher they rise in the tube and they should get bigger as they go up. ( Read more... )
