well, it's been a busy couple of weeks in danschank land... i thought i'd be more motivated for updates, but instead i've basically been doing a lot of hanging out... nonetheless, the summer edition is finally here:
oh man, i totally remember watching a dicumentary about scott and cary grant (and the implications about the two), but i didn't know who randolph scott even WAS at the time!!! wow, what a weird coincidence...
but srsly, i loved the relationship between queequeg and ishmael as well though i hardly have much more to say than you allllready have. kudos to you about reading 'moby dick'.
ahhhh- mojitos- a drink that i guzzle when its made correctly but im so often at bars where its best to just get a simple vodka tonic.
Even though it was obvious that everyone dies at the end, I was still depressed when he died. I wanted him to live over Ishmael. Actually, I didn't like any of the whiteys except for Stubb (and only because he was funny).
I love the mintiness of the mojito. But I sometimes find myself recoiling at the citrus. Not because I dislike citrus, but because I find myself wanting an unsullied mintiness. That's when I reach for the mint julep, it has become this summer's drink for me. Although I'm sadly isolated in Connecticut at the moment with little opportunity to do anything but help my parents list their belongings on craigslist.
i think i'm more of a citrus guy than a minty guydanschankJuly 26 2007, 17:42:42 UTC
i put slices of lime into glasses of water and shit like that.
i'll say this though: too many mojitos starts to feel bad after a while. i was at this fancy cuban place where we were treated to really expensive mojitos (long story), and after like, number three, i started having sugar overload.
i need to try a mint julep one of these days. i'm actually sorta naive about mixed drinks in general...
Ahh, Dan Schank, I totally adore you. Thanks for giving me ten things to think about/ check out/ grapple with. You're the best! I hope one day we can knock back a mojito or two together. Good luck with everything!
thanks! and yeah, if you're ever in philly, don't be a stranger... i'd mention coming up to NYC here, but (alas) it appears that my unemployment has no end in site (so blowing money in brooklyn can't logistically happen).
