What you need my friend is a cheek patch. Or maybe a big scar like Omar to add some character to that accent. If it makes you feel any better the beginning of my 30's has been a physical roller-coaster ride at best - like some sort of weird second puberty. I hope no ladies are reading this.
The new piece looks great. You've nailed "moody" in terms of color and atmosphere.
How was Carl's opening? do you have pics? Sorry I couldn't make it down. Still trying to get my funky rhythm going. I have to wrap up some BG stuff and a new large piece, then I'll make it down - end of April? If you want though, you should come up to NY when Justin is here. I haven't seen the Whitney Bi yet.

fortunately, now it's minimized to a little dot, and is ok for the time being. carl's opening was fun. i have no pics from it though. i haven't actively taken pictures of anything in years, really. like, remember when i lived in NYC and i kinda grew my hair long? there is no documentation of that at all (it's for the best).

i'm gonna talk to justin today and see if we can plan some fun in NYC. i definitely want to see the biennial. i probably won't be able to stay long though.

And is it ever worth it! I always feel little insecure talking about drawing/painting/still art cause I know so little about it (if I talk about it in filmic/writing terms I apologize, it's what I'm used to), but this painting kind of stabbed me in the heart. In a really good way. And I'm not trying to really lay on thick about the colors, but they reminded me of something ( ... )

thanks for the thoughful reply. i'm not familiar with either of the films, unfortunately, but i think i see what you're saying.

the funny thing is that i set out to eliminate as much color as possible here. i intended to make the piece way more about drawing, and black and white, than it ended up being. so when i decided to add color, i did it following a bit of internal conflict, which probably made the decisions more specific, but i hadn't thought of it that way until i read this.

i really like this--eerie, like a lovely dystopia where you can get wonderful printed ties and fabrics.

and no, i don't speak polish? i have a feeling you're noticing the inclusion of ryszard kapuscinski? i've only read him in translation, unfortunately. i like him an awful lot though. i actually wish i spoke polish because i''ve read all but two of his books that are translated into english (as far as i know). and i'm sure the untranslated stuff is great as well.

yes, ryszard kapuscinski and bruno schulz in your profile made me think you speak polish, because i speak :)
and i advice u to read witold gombrowicz and witkacy,if you really like bruno schulz's style
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witold_Gombrowicz
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanis%C5%82aw_Ignacy_Witkiewicz

and there are more books of ryszard kapuscinski in english i guess,he is becoming more and more popular abroad,so there are new translations growing all around the world.
