One of my coworkers heard somebody getting shot last night. Three guys shot one of her neighbors about 20 times on the sidewalk outside of his apartment, then they all came back two minutes later and finished him off with about 30 more. Yeah it's not exactly all over the news but yknow how that goes. The two paragraph blurb in the Times says that he was shot "multiple times".

Given the choice of living in Laguna fill-in-the-blank with Chad's bland ass or with two LADIES in fakey fake Irvine, I think my choice was clear. I'm not feeling bad about my decision to move there tho. Just a little anxiety with a healthy dose of Orange County loathing that could probably apply to 90% of cities round here.

that's crazy.
a few months before i moved to california, a teen gang member got executed 2 blocks from where i lived because he went into the wrong convience store. you'll be fine in irvine. just don't get fresh with anyone ;)

This is pretty common where I live, but Irvine? Well, it wouldn't surprise me that triads would have a flair for overkill.

I live in the northeast outskirts of what used to be South Central Los Angeles. I grew up here all my life. Officially, the name of the area was changed to South Los Angeles in order to eliminate the connotation of violence that was spurred by the riots, gangsta movies, and even a short lived TV series. No one really observes this change though, especially not in principle.
