The Times is reporting that the famous South Central farm in LA is getting uprooted and the people scattered. Good thing they're making more room for warehouses: our society's most urgent need.

Last Friday there were hundreds of bicyclists going around the perimeter of the farm in circles, clogging up the streets and fucking up traffic. I wanted to join in, but was too tired from work. You get a feeling of the epic when you see so many people, well, sweating together, exerting themselves for a benign purpose, however useless. It's a shame. I don't think there's anything to be done about it, short of, I dunno, a more serious protest, like innocents setting their selves afire. Violence ...

You'd think they could come up with a less strenuous protest for those of us who work for a living. Here in Santa Ana during the May 1 protests they had the right idea - walk slowly down the street and hand out free water.

People setting themselves on fire in America would take a fuckin miracle, or the promise of quick weight loss.
